Why we build Dana.
Dana Pet Care is a shared pet care app from Toronto, Canada. We bring daily care, health records and AI guidance into one place, so everyone involved can work from the same information.
Where it began
Dana's founder grew up with cats, dogs and birds in the house. He learned each animal's habits and how its behaviour changed once it trusted him.
That experience shaped the purpose of Dana: helping people look after an animal together. We want everyone caring for a pet to have the information they need to help it stay well and stay with its family longer.

Why Dana
دانا
Dana is a Persian word meaning wise. The founder chose it for its meaning and its connection to Persian culture.
In Persian, it sounds close to Donna, with the a in father. Many English speakers say DAY-nuh.
What shapes the app
When care is shared, everyone needs access to the same information. We built Dana around that need, from daily routines to a record you can take to a vet appointment.
Who did what, and when
A logged meal or completed task shows who did it and when. Caregiver roles let owners choose the access each person needs, so a sitter can join without sharing someone else's login.

Describe what worries you and Dana AI suggests a next step: emergency care now, a call to the vet today, or monitoring at home. It never diagnoses. Ask it about feeding or vaccines and the answer starts from your pet's record.
How Dana AI worksFood advice depends on the pet
Food Scanner reads a photo of food or its ingredients label. It gives guidance for each pet on whether they can eat it, how much and how often.

With Pro, Records Vault keeps PDFs and photos together. Owners can share them through a code-protected link that expires and can be revoked, without asking the clinic to create an account.

Behind Dana
We build and support Dana from Toronto, with the same care tools on iPhone, Android and tablets. We keep working on the app after it reaches the stores, helping people use it and answering their questions.

Where we go next
We want to make changes in a pet's routine easier to notice and share. We would like to explore a model trained specifically for pets. It remains a research ambition, not a feature in the app or a promised release.
