Delete Your Dana Account

This is the live text the app links to; the same document ships in the repository that builds this site.

Effective Date: 2026-09-02

Dana is published by 1001717997 Ontario Inc. This page explains how to delete your Dana account, what is erased, and what is not. You do not need the app installed to make the request.

Delete from inside the app

If you still have Dana on your phone, this is the fastest route:

  1. Open Dana and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Scroll down to Delete account.
  3. Type DELETE_MY_ACCOUNT to confirm.
  4. Tap Delete permanently.

Your account is erased the moment you confirm. There is no grace period and no undo, so export first if you want to keep a copy: Profile → Legal & privacy → Export my data gives you a JSON download of your account.

Delete without the app

Already uninstalled Dana? Email support@danapetcare.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account.

We will ask you to confirm something only the account holder would know before we delete anything. That step is deliberate: without it, anyone who learned your email address could erase your pets’ records. We act on the request within one month, as data protection law requires.

What is erased

  • Your profile: email address, username, display name and profile photo.
  • Every pet you own, and everything attached to it — care logs, tasks, walk sessions and their GPS routes, health records, medications, vaccines, microchip details.
  • Files you uploaded, including vault documents and photos.
  • Your AI check history.
  • Your care streak, points, medals and friendships.
  • Your sign-in identities and push notification tokens, so no device can reach the account again.

Your email address is also scrubbed from invitations and ownership transfers you sent, so nobody who received one can still see it.

What is not erased

  • Your subscription. Deleting your account does not cancel Dana Pro, because Apple and Google own that billing relationship. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings, or it will keep renewing.
  • Pets belonging to someone else. If you were invited as a caregiver, that pet and its history belong to its owner. You lose access; their records stay with them.
  • Care you recorded on another person’s pet. Those entries stay in that pet’s history, because it is their owner’s record of how their animal was looked after. They are no longer linked to you.
  • Backups and records the law requires. Copies inside encrypted backups roll off on the schedule set out in our Privacy Policy.
